I have been researching my family history for several years; as time permits.  The Hourigan Family History and the Rexroat Family History from Kentucky, are both very important to me, as it is my mother’s side of my family tree!

My mother’s maternal grandmother, Clyda Belle (Rexroat) Hourigan helped to raise her and was always there for her; she played a very important part in my mother’s life.  My mom was also especially close to her maternal grandfather, James Robert Hourigan, who unfortunately, I never had the chance to meet.

I do, however, remember my great-grandmother (Clyda Hourigan) well.  Even though we lived a good 3 to 3 1/2 hours away from her (we lived in Ohio and she lived in Kentucky), we went there often when I was growing up, so my siblings and I got to know that side of our family quite well.

I still try to go there to visit at least once a year.  Other than cousins, there are two children of Clyda & Robert Hourigan’s still living.  My mom was especially close to two of her aunts, who also helped in raising her, one of  whom is still living and in a nursing home today.  She also was  and continues to be a wonderful influence on my mother and on me!  She has helped me tremendously with my family history research on her family, and is an absolutely wonderful person.

I could go on and on about the family, but that is a start to my Hourigan/Rexroat family histories.  I have a lot of things to add to this website, and it will take much time to get it all organized and added.  So please check back for updates as you can.

By building this website, I would like to find other family members who are also researching these families.  One of the best ways to learn more about your family history is by working together with others who are researching the same families.  So if you would like to join me in this adventure, please contact me (more contact information below) or send me any pictures or information you would like to share, and I will be more than happy to post it on this site.
